A Lowmans Hill man returns to court on Aug. 12 for a preliminary inquiry into firearm possession and robbery charges.

Roderick Alexander, a 35-year-old labourer, appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, where he was read a charge that on Feb. 25, at Camden Park, he had in possession a firearm, make and serial number unknown, without a license issued under the Firearms Act.

A second charge was that on Feb. 25, at Campden Park, being armed with a firearm, he robbed Danroy Small, of Questelles, of EC$220 in cash and at the time of so doing and in order to do so, put the same Danroy Small in fear of being then and there subjected to force.

Alexander was not required to plead to the charges, which are laid on indictment.

The prosecutor, acting Corporal of Police Corlene Samuel did not object to bail.

Senior Magistrate Colin John set bail at EC$5,000 with one surety and ordered Alexander to have no contact with Small.

He also ordered the accused man to report to the Questelles Police Station on Mondays between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., surrender his travel document and remain in the country.

The court also ordered that stop notices be posted at ports of entry and exit.

The defendant asked the court for an earlier date, saying that the file was ready.

“It been in the system for some time,” he said.

However, the magistrate said that was the soonest that the court could hear the matter.

Detective Corporal Forde is the lead investigator.
